<Museo Maderas del Carmen Nature Reserve  is  a non-profit conservation organization, whose aim is to administer and protect 50,000 acres within the 545,000 acres of  the Federal Natural Protected Area Maderas del Carmen. Our mission is to conserve the unique flora, fauna, watersheds  and  geology within the  reserve,  while   collaborating with  the surrounding settlers to improve their well-being. With these objectives, we  will continually strive in improving our environment for future generations. Our charter focuses our attention in three areas: conservation of natural resources, environmental education, and scientific research.

MMCNR believes tourists play an important and indispensable role in our conservation program. All of the income from the eco-tourism operation is reinvested into the reserve for our conservation and environmental educational projects.

By allowing guests to visit the reserve, their contribution help us: prevent illegal hunting, support the training of a new generation of nature custodians for the area, support education efforts to engage the local population in the benefits of conservation, re-establishing healthy populations of native species and support scientific research within the area.
